Le Snoot Merlot 2005

So I was talking to a dear friend today and I came to the conclusion that I want to quit my day job and blog about wine full-time. I want to drink wine all day, everyday, and then write reviews all night long. I want to be that soccer-mom. The fantasy version of a stay-at-home/work-from-home mom. Unfortunately, I'd probably turn into the mom who'd stumble in late for school functions, consistently reeking of breath mints and barely concealed alcohol. You know the mom I'm talking about.

Before Mike strokes out while reading this, fearful of the day that I come home announcing my unemployment, and before certain soccer moms the world over express their desire to stab me, let me say that I realize my ambition is a bit misguided. This is just my roundabout way of expressing gratitude for all the enthusiasm and support this blog has earned in just the short time that we've been live. There are a lot of cheap wines out there begging to be reviewed and it is our pleasure to introduce them to you. In addition to our reviews, and I promise I'll get to Le Snoot shortly, I wanted to point out that we've added a new poll, located in the left column of this site. For all those Facebook addicts out there reading this blog, I've also created a 'Wine For the Cheap' Page that you can join to keep yourself informed of new reviews. Lastly, I'd like to ask you to make it a habit of clicking on at least one of the Google ads generated on this site, each time you read our blog. There's bound to be one that catches your eye; go ahead, indulge your curiosity. Clicking the ads secretly helps to fund this cheap wine drinking habit we've developed.

Now, about the Le Snoot. Snob Hill Winery makes a damn good merlot, is all I have to say. It's rich and flavorful, without being too strong. I could easily drink this every night with dinner. Merlot lovers will not be disappointed with this budget wine. I'm going to use a new rating system for this wine since our poll currently favors a scale of 1-10, (1 being 'bongwater' and 10 being 'nectar of gods/goddesses'). Disagree with our rating scale? Vote! In the meantime, Le Snoot Merlot is definitely a 9 out of 10.

  2. I bought this wine at 3 for $10. I was not at all thrilled with it. It is extremely tannic, almost undrinkable straight out of the bottle. After it breathes for about two hours, it is drinkable, but even then, IMHO, it is just an average at best red wine. I bought it because I liked the label, at for about $3.33, it is fun, cheap, art.
