Once again we're traveling to Argentina. This time it's a malbec, which makes me quite excited, as malbecs are the sort of dry, red wine I typically enjoy. This particular wine makes me extra excited because I know, from reading the label, that Quara refers to a variety of llama. I don't know about you, but there's nothing more likely to attract me to a product, especially one so closely associated with taste and smell, as a llama. I can only imagine, before sampling, what I might pair with such a wine. Perhaps some variety of large, furry rodent. Or possibly a light salad. The wine itself is a gorgeous shade of purple. I'm not sure why I'm noticing that particular characteristic, unless maybe I'm having some sort of flashback. Either way, it's quite pretty, and pairs nicely with some Pink Floyd.
I don't have much else to say about this particular wine. It's fruity, dry, and malbecy. I don't think I'd ever seek it out in a store, but at the same time, I probably wouldn't turn a glass down if you're buying. Are you buying? Oh, then I'll have the whole damned bottle.
My score: 5 out of 10
Total Wine, $7.99

nothing else to say? what about answering that earlier question about good food pairings?
ReplyDeleteI actually DO seek out this particular Malbec, it's a very good wine for the price, so I'd give it a 7 or 8. I eat a lot of salad, veggies & couscous, and think they go very well with the Quara. And finally, I love that label. Other than that, I loved Mike's review, very funny!
