Seriously??? A 4.5 out of 5? No, no, no, and NO. Not only did I grimace with each sip, I slowly found myself having difficulty breathing the more I drank! Wine-induced asthma? That my friends, has to be the sign of a truly cheap wine. And though cheap wine is the topic du jour in this blog, I can't let Mike's most recent review fool you into thinking that this particular wine is worth the $5.99. Frankly, Trader Joe's has a much better and more affordable selection with their Charles Shaw lineup (Two Buck Chuck!).
Alright, perhaps I'm exaggerating when I link my asthma attack to the wine. I suppose the attack was just coincidental. I couldn't possibly be allergic to cheap wine, could I be? Oh the horror! Seriously though, the A & F Merlot was heavy on the tart and light on the flavor. I don't mind dry wines but there has to be flavor. Oak, cherry, nutmeg, rose petal, chocolate, whatever...take your pick! Unfortunately for Mr. Alexander & Mr. Fitch, you won't find any of those flavors in this wine. So, here we go: this wine barely rates a 2 out of 5 for me.
Who's on Team Joy for this one?
